However, the hardenability of carbon steel is poor, so it is necessary to use alloy steel for the spring with large section. The main alloy elements in the alloy spring steel are silicon and manganese, which can enhance the hardenability and the ratio of the steel. Carbon steel is used in small diameter springs, and the process is mostly cold-drawn, such as: 65#, 75#, 85#. The diameter is slightly larger, and the spring that needs to be produced by the hot forming process USES 60Si2Mn, such as the automobile plate spring and the buffer spring of the railway vehicle. For high stress, the main spring can be used for 50CrV, which is often used in advanced car springs, engine valve springs, etc. Other spring steel materials are: 65Mn,50CrMn,30W4Cr2V, etc.
